Well, if Janet can copy and paste, so can I Rolling Eyes

Part I
Hidden underground complex, somewhere in Germany, 1944

The group of people stood and watched in awe as the room was cast into a soothing blue light. Time seemed to stand still and all worries on their minds faded into non-existents. It was as if a part of paradise had suddenly descended unto the room.
In the back corner of the room there were a rather large generator of some sort, humming as it provided power to the device which was located in the center of the room. The device was actually more of the appearance of an old antique spear, and it was from this that the blue light originated from.
The man in the middle of the group seemed to force himself to speak.
"Das ist gut. The experiment is a great success. You may power it down now. We have seen all that we need for the moment"
He was speaking to the woman who stood beside the control panel at the generator. She wore a white lab coat over her military uniform. Even though she was pretty young she had snow white hair.
"Fraulein Zweistein, please shut down the generator" the man repeated himself. Judging from his tone, he was not a man used to be questioned (the collar on his uniform confirmed this as it identified him as Oberst in the German army).
The woman started to reach for the controls. When she lay her hand on the switch she paused, as if in deep thoughts. Then, instead of decreasing the power, she turned the switch so the generator went from a quiet humming notice to a more shrieking sound. The blue light coming from the spear increased, and the room seemed to fill with an invisible fluid. Every breath felt like a lifetime in length and everyone in the room moved as in slow-motion.
"Verdammt" the commander cursed as he reached for his holstered gun. "Shoot the traitor!"
Only a couple of the other men showed signs of hearing him. The rest of them stood like statues, trapped in their own thoughts.
On the other side of the room, the young doctor had moved away from the control panel and was now reaching for the spear. Everything moved at an almost standstill. Her hand grasped the hilt as the first bullet went off. The officers aim was true, and the bullet penetrated what seconds before had been the woman’s left eye socket. Blood flowed down her face and also stained the floor in front of her. However, she still stood tall, holding the spear in her left hand as she reached for the empty hole in her skull with the other. At first she looked confused, but then her expression changed to more of an evil smirk. But her expression changed again, but this time into fear mixed with panic. She opened her mouth as to scream, but no sound could be heard. Instead the blue light emitted by the spear changed into dark red. Arcs of purple-white lightning flew from the spears tip. What moments before had been the most peaceful place on earth now turned into a living hell. Those who had been hit by the lightning filled the surrounding corridors with their screams of agony. The room itself was covered in blood. The commanding officer hung in midair, unable to make a sound. Where his arms and legs once had been where only now the remains of something that looked like minced meat. His mouth hung open, as he tried to scream, but only a gargling sound came out as he drew breath. Both of his eyelids had been removed somehow and his stare was pure of horror. In front of him stood Zweistein, both of her hands on the spear. On one cheek tears where flowing from her remaining eye. On the other cheek, blood dripped from the empty eye socket. Her face still expressed fear and confusion, but was also mixed with sadness. She looked around her, as if being accused of a crime she didn't commit.
The moist air smelled of blood and burned flesh. Her lower lip trebled as she tried to speak.
"Dem Speer..." Her gaze shifted towards the glowing spear "I... I didn't know"
Oberst Dietrich hovered helpless in the air, only able to watch as Zweistein tightened her grip around the spear and lifted it above her head. Her face suddenly became blank.
"The voices... They are raping my mind... Please... Please just make them stop!"
The spear came down, splitting the air with an howling whisper.
Zweistein fell to her knees, blood gushing out of her belly where the spear had impaled her. Dietrich fell down on the floor as well, faced down in the blood of his dead men. He tried to look up, but could only see Zweisteins body being lifted up from the ground by some unseen force. He felt as if something exploded inside of him. A strange kind of warmth filled him and the pain seemed to fade away. Then there was only darkness...

When German troops arrived the day after to investigate the sudden silence from the hidden research facility, no survivors could be found. The entire base was covered in what looked like dried blood, but no bodies from any of the personnel could be found. Neither could the artifact reported to be stored at the facility be recovered since it also had gone missing. Among those listed as missing where base commander Oberst Otto Bietrich and lead scientist, Doctor Alexandra Zweistein. The artifact was codenamed Speer des Schicksals- Spear of Destiny.

Part II
Present day, Ziggursky Prison Facility, Paragon City

The cell was quite small and simple. About 2,5 meters in height and something like 2 by 2 meters in area. In it was a simple bed, a hand-basin and a toilet which had seen far better days. A cockroach sprinted across the floor, bearing witness to the standard of the prison in which the cell was situated. The bright light which spread through the tiny room flickered irregularly, giving off a sparkling sound as each time. The walls of the cell were made of brick stones, but somehow marks from nails, usually with some dried blood in them, could be seen decorating them. A stench of dirt, sweat and excrement mixed with each other filled the whole area. If there was a place on earth which could be called hell, this could be it.

Sitting in one of the corners were a woman, rocking back and forth as she held her arms around her knees which was pressed up against her chest. Taking a look at her torn fingers, it was easy to see from were the marks on the walls came from. Her white hair was torn as well, and now had a color more grey than white, because of the dirt. Small wounds were visible all over her arms, legs and face, probably also caused by her own hands. The right eye was covered by an eye patch, hiding the grotesque injury which was beneath it. The left eye however was at perfect health and was darting back and forth with its gaze across the floor. Her lips moved but only at very close distance could the words she was mumbling be heard.
"Die Stimmen... Muss... die Stimmen... aufhören..."
This chant continued for several hours, just the way it had for the past years she had been kept here.

A distant explosion made the whole prison floor tremble, but if the woman noticed, she didn't pay any attention to it. Red warning lights were lit in the ceiling, and prison guard were running past the cells. Another explosion was heard, this time much closer. Firearms started firing, and the smell of gunpowder filled the air. In mere minutes, the prison was turned into a battlefield. With a sudden "clang"-noise, all the cell doors were opened. Prisoners flooded out, quickly overwhelming the remaining guards. Chaos soon engulfed the whole area.

Most prisoners seemed to be caught by some sort of battle lust and started fighting among themselves. Others seemed more rational, forming groups to defend themselves from the others and a few even started to make plans to escape the facility. In the midst of this, three figures made their way around the prison cells, as if they were looking for something. Two of them were clad in black amour, their face covered underneath a sinister looking domed helmet. Each of them held some sort of mace like weapon which they used to unleash beams of energy upon those who came to close. The third person was a slim female, dressed in tight fitting blood red suit. While the lower part of the faces on the other two were visible, the entire face was hidden under the helmet of a Fortunata Mistress. They were soldiers of Arachnos, highly trained in the arts of destruction, and they were indeed looking for someone.

Oblivious about what was going on around her, the woman kept rocking back and forth in her cell. Even as a shadow fell over her, she didn't pay any attention to the man who was now leaning over her.
"Miss Cassandra, I think we have found her"
The Fortunata Mistress walked into the cell and stopped next to the Wolfspider.
"Indeed it seems like we have" she replied in a monotone voice. "She's in worse shape than we had predicted."
A prisoner, at least 2 meters tall stepped into the cell, his clothes torn, and with arms covered in tattoos. Blood ran down his fists and face, but none of it seemed to belong to himself.
"Hello, prettiiis. Can't remember seeing dos fancy dressis around here befor. Mind if Aye rip them from yer ded bodis?"
Both wolfspiders raised their maces, but a gesture from the Fortunata kept them from firing.
An evil grin spread across her face beneath the mask.
"We will need to perform the transference here, and I think we just found the receiver"
She raised her hands to the temples of her head. For a brief second, there seemed to be a dim flash of light between the Mistress and the brutish prisoner. Another second later, froth spilled forward from his mouth, while the eyes rolled up into the back of his head. He collapsed in a uncontrollable spasm.
"Bring him over here and hold him down" the Fortunata commanded.
After placing the man next to the woman in the cell, the Fortunata kneeled, placing one hand this time on the forehead of the paralyzed prisoner, and the other on the head of the woman.

The woman suddenly jolted back, screaming as if her skin was pealed of her, inch by inch.
The wolfspiders looks nervous at each other. They both knew what would happened to them if anything would go wrong with their mission objective.
"What is happening?" the first one asked, trying to conceal the doubt he had in his voice.
The fortunata, now standing on one knee and breathing heavily, waved at the girl, who was still screaming at the top of her lungs and with eyes filled of horror.
"In lack of better words, you can say that she has been possessed for the last 60 years or so. Her spirit has been the dormant one, and she is now facing ever moment, second and memory which has passed during that time. As you might see it's no pleasant experience".
"What of the other one?" the second wolfspider asked.
All turned to the prisoner. The white foam from his mouth had turned red as he had bitten off the tip of his tongue in his uncontrollable spasms. However, the spasms very starting to pass, and his breathing was returning t normal.
"His mind wasn't as strong as the hers. The spirit that I just transferred has taken total control of it's new host and probably expelled the old one all together. We should be far from here when it has adapted to it's new body".
"Shouldn't we just dispose of it right here?"
The fortunata laughed, and then turned towards the woman. "I think it would be more fun for the guards to come to that conclusion themselves. Now, help me here. She seems to be more stable now".

The woman had indeed stopped screaming and also seemed to be more aware of her surrounding now. With an expression that looked like waking up from a long sleep, she looked around the cell. Her gaze stopped on the fortunata.
"Wo ... wo sind ich? Wer sind Sie?"
You are at the Ziggursky Prison Facility, in Paragon City. You were brought here because of your... unique ability. And not that it matters, but I am fortunata Cassandra. Now let me ask you a question, because if you are the one we think, I know you can understand me. What is your name?"
Blinking a few times, the woman opened her mouth, hesitated, then spoke.
"My name is Alexandra Zweistein, scientist of the Re..." Her voice faded away "No, that was a long time ago. I am not that person anymore"
The fortunata kneeled beside Zweistein. "Indeed you are not that same person anymore. You are someone much more than that. You probably haven’t realized it yet, but you might be quite important to my masters plan. In fact, that is why I am here"
Cassandra stood up again, offering a hand to Alexandra.
"Lord Recluse wants to meet you in person, and I am here to bring you to him"
Zweistein looked at the extended hand.
"And what if I don't want to see this Recluse?"
With the same tone of voice, the fortunata replied "Then you will never leave this cell alive".
"60 years later and still it's do or die" Alexandra smiled "Sehr gut. Take me to this Lord Recluse then"
One of the wolfspiders stepped up next to the fortunata "Mistress, the flyer reports that Longbows are starting to arrive. There will probably be reinforcements from the Freedom Phalanx as well. I suggest we leave this place as soon as possible"

Hehe, that in itself can be quite frightening.
Thanks for the comment. Already gathering notes for a third part (I know what to do with the prisoner now).
Btw, edited a bit to get rid of some spelling errors. Might have added others though Confused
