Evil Janet

How Janet Went on to be Evil

Part 2 of Janet's tale...

Evil Janet Part 2 – The Rise of Janet

“You’re free to leave anytime you like Janet,” said the voice. “You’re free to leave. You may go, go, go…”

Janet woke in her cell for the 3rd or 4th time that night, just as she did every night. She looked across to the white haired German woman she now shared a cell with… Zweisteiger or something… before scratching the lice in her hair and settling back to sleep.

“You’re free to leave now Evil Janet,” said the voice. Janet pulled the blanket hard over her head and tried to get back to sleep. Which was when she realised that she was still awake. She threw back her cover and could see a tall figure in her cell doorway, which was mangled and askew. The voice had not been that of Godfrey Mainwearing, the voice that haunted her dreams.

It was in fact the voice of a wolf spider huntsman, though she did not realise it at that time. To her then and there it was just a large man in a black helmet and body armour.

“What? What is…”

“You have been freed by Arachnos forces loyal to Lord Recluse,” explained the huntsman factually. “Get out to the courtyard and there will be a flyer ready to ferry you to Mercy Island. Make a name for yourself there and our great leader may have use for you. NOW GO!”

********************************************************

Find the shiv, slap down the norms, rescue Agent Jenkins (Leeroy?), on to the flyer and pushed out onto an Arachnos fortress in Mercy Island where a fortuna named Kalinda stood atop a podium giving orders to similarly released villains.

“Evil Janet,” she summoned the bewildered villainous fledgling over, “I have a task for you.”

“And I want to do it because?” replied Janet, regaining some of her composure after her frantic flight from the Zig.

“Because,” said Kalinda and an icy fear gripped Janet like she had never felt before but would feel many times in the future, “if you succeed then there may be more tasks and more task will prove you worthy of service to the great Lord Recluse.”

Janet had gone into the Zig as a naïve semi-reluctant villainess, a victim (she believed) of circumstance, with powers that she did not understand nor fully utilise. In there she discovered similarly gifted/cursed individuals who spoke of Lord Recluse… the mysterious leader of Arachnos, who looked to bring a new world order.

Janet knew it was her chance to be part once again of an organization that would value her. She grasped it with both hands. She was about to depart to kill snakes when she was heralded by a dark villain standing on one of the fort’s many ramparts. He introduced himself as Evil Thistle, with powers similar to Janet’s, but which involved controlling plants. He was though, many times more powerful than Janet. Power was the one thing Janet respected and when he introduced her to the Evil Echelon, an alliance of likeminded evildoers, she promised herself to their cause for the time being. She was sure she would be able to exploit the situation somehow.

Then it was off to kill snakes…

******************************************************

And more snakes… and more… the contact with the name Mongoose should have been a clue, but eventually she extended her powers. Now she could hold groups of foes, not just one at a time and she was also able to fine tune her gravity powers so that she could draw pure energy from around her and fire it forth as short shots of energy bolts and blasts. Slowly she was building a name for herself.

Moving on to Port Oakes brought new opportunity, though her powers were still clumsy and raw. New foes emerged in the shape of the pitiful Lost, the mysterious Circle of Thorns and the vengeful Family. She met Walnut and Star Skull, two new and eager villains who turned out not to have the drive and determination of Janet and who fell by the wayside.

By the time she reached Cap Au Diable she had learned to control gravity to the extent that she could propel herself through the air, as well as other objects which she could fling as weapons. It was around this time that she met Un Divine.

Un (as Janet named him) was a grav dom much the same as Janet and leader of supergroup known as the Champions of Death. He wooed Janet vigorously and relentlessly so that she left the Evil Echelon, became Un’s Lieutenant in the Champions of Death and eventually, his wife (though the legality of the ceremony, overseen by a CoT Life Mage, has often been challenged by both parties since).

For a long time they ran together, Un Divine taught Janet much, so that her power grew and so did that of the Supergroup under their guidance. During that time Janet learned to create a dense gravitational singularity that would follow her around and protect her. She named it “Polly”, poly being the opposite of singular, and it would prove to be her closest ally in combat, the pinnacle of her powers.

But soon Un Divine was demanding that Janet go on missions with much more powerful villains and act merely as an observer, in order to advance her powers quickly and bring greater prestige to the supergroup. Her days in Nerva and St Martial proved a terrible grind and what was the point of being evil if you could not have some fun. The tipping point was when Janet found out that Un had been seeing someone else.

The battle that took place in their quarters within the Champions of Death’s secret base was titanic. The two equally potent doms with identical powers slugged it out for 9 hours and no one dared enter the base for fear of getting caught in the cross-fire. Energy bolts flew with, followed by randomly propelled water-coolers and pool tables. The two singularities cancelled each other out, creating a no-go zone that neither villain wanted to enter, but finally Janet and Un caught each other in a death grip, each knowing that one more twist of their power would kill the other, but that the other would have enough time to do likewise to them.

In the end, there must have been some small feeling of love left between them as they both released each other and dismissed their singularities. Janet surveyed the damaged base and knew there was nothing for her there. So she left. The base, the SG and her marriage. From now on Un Divine and Evil Janet would only communicate via their lawyers. They would never meet again.

To make a fresh start Janet headed to Grandville, where she met Johnny Sausage, Yuri Blastin, a German Scientist and Sirocco… but that is another story!
Dr Zweistein

Nice work, as always. Enjoyed that, and Yay for german scientist! Very Happy
Looking forward to next part. Yes, yes, indeed I am.
