Lord of the Rings Online: Hobbit feet FTW!Anyone have any experience here? The only bad reviews I've seen are ones that say it isn't enough like WoW to attract the mainstream - haha! The good ones tend to say it is just like WoW and isn't that grand! Of course, you never know how much you will like it until you actually PLAY the game, so I'm curious what other people think. I'm mainly hoping that it isn't as generic and/or bland as certain other games I could mention and promote teamwork & roleplaying at least as much as City Of...!
I've bought the pre-release trial box from GameStation on the high street (£1.99 for access from 14-23 April - I'll have to actually buy it after that if I like it!). Although this is strictly only pre-access for those that have pre-ordered, I didn't even get asked to pre-order when I bought it. I'll treat it like a trial and probably buy it online if I actually like the game enough to play properly.
I know Aaarrrggghhh has pre-ordered the game and will be playing it with one of his friends. Anyone else out there interested in the "pre-trial" or actually buying it? Perhaps we could organise to start on the same server when the game starts and meet up? I'm assuming there will be more than one server in the EU anyway *8-P* I'll be quite a heavy roleplayer in the game so you may find me irritating (I'm only sometimes a RPer in City of...), though I'm not a Tolkein nerd. Honest!

Well, I'm sure if you are a real Tolkien Scholar, then whatever they did with the world would be a travesty (though we will have to wait for SOE to "fix" it before everyone can play as a real Wizard with a fireball spell!).
Nice to see that they have stolen the idea of titles from City Of... . Can't wait to label myself as "Slug Smasher" (allegedly a title for newbie Hobbitses that...have sticky feet from killing slugs!).

Oh, incidentally, if they have a designated RP server, I will be found there, even if it means you'll all be on another server! Sorry! Not sure how they will manage things though (City of... doesn't have official RP servers, as far as I can see, but WoW did. Not that either company seemed very interested in promoting RP (or rather demoting non-RP) even on the dedicated servers, but not like we can do much about that).

The English/RP server is "Laurelin". The English/non-RP one is "Snowbourn".

Yeah, like a friend of mine. Everything that comes out is "not as good as Conan will be". But then, nothing can compare with something that isn't out yet! I'll be bored of LOTRO long before Conan finally comes out...regardless of whether it lives up to the hype!

Servers are LIVE!Yes, they are running the servers early of the anounced start time (8am GMT tomorrow).
My first toon (On Laurelin [RP] server) is named after the true hero of the books...Bill the Pony. Long live Bill of Bree-Land (Human burgler)!
